It's happening...again.

Here we go. The first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has been unleashed upon us. This is the second in a series of spin-offs based on the mega franchise Star Wars, the first being Rogue One. The movie has had some trouble getting off the ground with reports of the very public firing of directors  Phil Lord & Chris Miller-two talented artists who first got a crack at the famous scoundrel's pre-rebel years. After "creative differences" with Queen B Kathleen Kennedy they were cut off and replaced with a super safe (but respectable) choice in Ron Howard.  Ron is a vet in the industry and knows how to finish movies on time, on budget, with studios breathing down his neck and it's obvious why Disney chose him to finish the movie. They didn't want an unstable auteur coming back in and shaking things up. They wanted a person who can follow orders and finish it. No tricky shots, no slick shooting or change of dialogue. Film music is essential in any movie in order to bring life into the scenes. Imagine Indiana Jones without John Williams fanfare or the Avengers without their main theme riding them off into battle. I can hear the jokes now. "ENGLISH KLINGON. DO YOU SPEAK IT?" Yes the jokes so easily write themselves. And since the news broke that Tarantino would spearhead a new Star Trek movie countless jokes have been born crossing Pulp Fiction with that of spaceships and weird shaped alien heads. Tarantino has carved out a place for himself rather nicely in pop culture that various people know his style of writing and attach it to wherever his name lands. And while it would be amazing to see Jackie Brown In Space something tells me this new Trek movie from the twisted genius mind of the american auteur will be the opposite of what everyone is expecting.
